PSSDA (Puget Sound Speech and Debate Association) was founded
in 2001 by Mr. Larry Bailey, bringing NCFCA (National Christian Forensics and Communication Association) debate to Washington
State.
PSSDA has combined into one speech and debate club for the
2003/2004 season, meeting at Northwest College in Kirkland on Thursday afternoons.
We also have sister clubs in Auburn, Bremerton, and Spokane.
PSSDA offers Team Policy Debate, and the Speech club meets for Individual Events (IE's).
For more information about NCFCA debate and IE's, please visit the NCFCA website

As mentioned earlier, the 2001/2002 season was the first season
for Washington debate. In that year we sent two and a half teams to nationals. Andrew Bailey (a third year debater)
and his partner Thomas Gowen (a second year debater from California) qualified and were sixth in the nation. Two novice
Washington teams also qualified: Brenden Hartford and Hannah Mead, and Stephen Mar and Joshua Done. Hartford/Mead
went on to place 15th at nationals.
At the 2003 Nationals, there were two Washingtonian teams; Taryn Clark and Victoria Garcia,
and Stephen Mar and Hannah Mead. Mar/Mead placed 13th.
